My votes for plugins

Of course, this answer will be different depending on who replies, what their ultimate requirements are (home or pro or somewhere inbetween), and finally how much money they are willing to spend. I like the following for my requirements:

For EQ, Voxengo GlissEQ, Kjerhus Audio's EQ, and finally two plugins from Elemental Audio Systems are outstanding (Firium and EQium).

For Delay, there is a great free plug in from Voxengo and a few real fancy items from PSP (the PSP68 Multi-delay and the PSP42 and PSP84).

I believe the for the "effects" category I'll nominate my favorite reverb plugin Wizooverb2. Not cheap, but not too pricey either. This is hands down some of the best verb I've heard in the plugins I've tried today. Also, the two delays above I'd put in this group.

I can't speak to instrument plugins.

Hope this helps.
