For instance, one of my artists is starting a lowrider car club with her man. Since me and them are cool, they're going to help me get into the lowrider community there to help push units when the album drops. In exchange, I toss their name around here and there and post an advert on my site. Depending on the results, I'd be willing to help them out more like help them set up a site or something like that. |

You Fie that's a good idea, with that lowrider thing and all. Come to find out you do got some smarts about you. Look out world
Ethos, when I was selling independent, I got some vinyl pressed up about 1000 peices at first, gave some to prominent local DJ, and mailed to the national one's. Then I was able to find about 3 small time distributors, who like my product, they would order 300 to 500 at a time, and pay me net 30. It worked really well at the time. I ended up moving 7500 pieces. But now that I'm a little wiser I want ot focus my distruibution to a more locallized area, that my artist can support with shows, and retail appearances. I would advise to see if you find a small distributor that likes your product, and that distibutes locally, not more that 2 states away, so that you can support the areas they distibute to. Where ya from?

Ask your local retailer who the small indy distribution companies are, and try to get them interested in your music.

you can also look in you phone book for local/regional music distributors...
also check with you local record store about puttin cds in their store on a cosignment agreement to see if anyone will buy it or have them give them away as free cd with a purchase of 2-3 or more cds..if you have a little buzz in your city..people will listen and come back to find out if you have more
