Reason 3.0

What's up y'all..........
I'm back in town, I was in Houston for a week chillin with Family!!!
Now, I got my new 3.0 installed on my pc. I am accustomed to 2.5 so is there any particular gadgets I should focus on in 3.0 that wasn't in 2.5? I see that's it's a slightly diiferent setup. It is asking me about my master controller, the "open command" opens up a new world of choices, and I am like "Whoa" 2.5 wasn't like this....By the way I lost all of my 50 + instrumentals during the upgrade transaction, so I gotta get to grinding! But what's new that stands out with 3.0 that sets it off and makes it steps above 2.5?

The new stuff is the Comindator, and Mastering Plug-in. The Comindator does take more CPU power cause it's like using 3 instruments at once. But, the sounds are off the hook. And the mastering plug-in sure makes the beat FAT. But, you have to use it right.

For the midi keyboard, go into the midi setup and from the list select the brand and make. That's it! If you can't find your keyboard in the list, just put other or it might say generic. Then just select the port. Sometimes you have to install the keyboard drivers first. But, for the new keyboards, it's just plug and play...

I'm triggering my drums better, but how can I get the Manny Fresh Dirty South breakdowns and that Jay Z's "Jigga who" "Jigga what". I have heard that in reason but I never understood how it was done. Is that a particular kind of kit? I have a beat in mind and I need that type style for drums.........

if you are talking about the drum rolls and swing, just set your tempo high, and if you are talking about the actual sounds, then yes, you'll have to look for similar sounds that are in those records and then tweak them. the Manny Fresh breakdowns can be acheived with 808 snares rolled from high to low pitches. What is it about the "Jigga What" song that you are interested in?

Ya, for the drum rolls, you can use the grid to draw the rolls. You will have ta put the grid at 1/16T or 1/32. Normally the roll starts at 1/16 and ends off at 1/32 fast... And like said, you can speed up the tempo. For example, if you want the tempo to be 80bpm, you would make it 160bpm. Just make the click on 1/4 notes to slow it down. But, you will have a fast grid. Gives you more room to work. And quanitization is more flexable...

For the pitch change you can automate the pitch to go from normal to low. Or you can set up the redrum and put different snares at different pitches and triger them. I like putting different snares cause you can pan them for a nice effect...

I heard a conga Jigga used once. Ta get that effect, use a high conga. Add it to the redrum and automate the pitch.
