Recording Question....

Guys, newbie here, I've been experimenting using the three mic method for recording my kit, and so far some good results.

I have one more XLR input left for a room mic, and my choices are an at4050, or an MXL V69 tube mic....the 4050 can go either cardioid or omni, whereas the V69 is cardioid only.

Should I go omni for the room mic, or just use cardioid? Thanks in advance!

(Oh yeah, my room is a 10' x 25", 8' ceilings, all drywall and carpet -- basically a basement recroom. Haven't gotten around to any room improvements yet )

Just try it. Either way can produce good results, it just depends.

try both, but with that room the answer will probably be cardi....

less room may be better here.
