Ripping CDs

I'm still using my old trusty version of Cool Edit Pro (V2). Recently bought a new computer (Pentium 4, lots of memory, Gig of ROM, etc). Now the "Extract audio from cd" function doesn't (function). Any ideas?
Thanks!
