vocal fx

I was wondering if there was a way to make a tiny voice like you hear in tha rap today? By using cool edit pro 2Ive tried to use the time stretch but it just sounds like a chipmunk.. If you dont know its cool..

Also what is a voicecoder exactly? I know cooledit has one built in but IM not sure as how to use ot correctly. Does it like add a synth to your voice or something? Kinda like in that one Cher song? Id like to be able to get that effect if you know what Im talkin about. If thats what it does, would I be able to take an instrument say some kind of synth from Fruity loops and combine it with my voice to get that type of sound? lol someone help me out please

the vocoder usually works by turning your voice into other sounds, such as one i've used can turn your voice into string sounds, also i think you can get things like whisper sounds and robotic sounds, its pretty fun to use on backing vocals sometimes. as far as the tiny sound you're refering to, i'd imagine youd just go and do a pitch shift on it, you can pitch shift in ce without changing the speed of the track.
