Focusrite Twin Trak Pro - quick question

just wondering if anyone who has one of these can answer me this....

if i get a TTpro (with a/d) can i hook both channels into my layla 24 spdif?

do they combine into 1 cord ( i think i only have the 1 digital input on my layla 24)

otherwise are there any better option? i might be able to part with $500 to get the extra 2 channels..

pre-thanks (get it, pre)

The answer is yes. A/D module sends both L/R channels on S/PDIF.

Yes, I've had mine for over two years and like it a lot. The preamps are quiet and clean and have plenty of gain. The optical compressor is fairly transparent and effective. I use both XLR outs and digital S/PDIF out depending on the situation. I Also use the monitor I/O for monitoring.

One thing you need to be aware of is that you can't use the DAC input S/PDIF while there are connections to the line ins or the monitor ins. If you download the manual you will read this. It is because the DAC input is seen as a monitoring input point. This hasn't bothered me any on my setup, but it may be an issue for some.

Mountaineer

thanks mountaineer...

the monitoring isnt an issue.. i'd primarily be using it as an A/D preamp.. fed into my layla 24 s/pdif..... im also considering an aphex 207d... you ever use one of those..?

No, never tried a 207D, but I noticed that the FEB issue of Recording magazine I just received reviews both the Aphex 207D and 230 ... not a bad review either, fairly favorable.
