4 Track Recorder Recommendations - Question

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm learning to play jazz piano, and I've decided to try and create some play along recordings (bass and drums) for some of the tunes that I've learned.

So I think I'm looking for my 1st 4 track recorder. I found a reference to
http://www.fasoft.com/main.shtm

- which seems like a good one, but I thought I'd go ahead and ask for some recommendations.

My needs are very simple. Just want to record a bass track and a drum track, and mix the 2 together. I may use a drum machine for the drum track, or at some point I may wander over to my buddies house and mike his drum set. Either way it's a wav file, right?

Thanks,
Turbo

n-track is software - using it would involve setting up your computer to do recording. While I personally endorse this idea highly , it may be more than you really want to get into. "4-track" normally implies a stand-alone device, and it sounds like that's what you want.

Here's a much better (non-partisan) reference:

I highly recommend taking the time to read through The Guide (or at least most of it) before shelling out any cash.
