Audiophile Hook up

I searched tha forum for about 15 pages and didn't quite get an answer...... and yes this is a newbie question but......

While I need a 1/4 to Dual RCA Y cable to connect my pre-amp to the 2496 or a 1/4 to single RCA?

You'll need one 1/4" (assuming your preamp's out is 1/4") to one RCA plug. Repeat if you have/want two channels of pre's going into the soundcard.
