Gretsch Streamliner

Contemplating buying a G3161 like the one below for $625. Anybody own one or have any thoughts? Plays good, sounds good.

I've only had my hands on a few Gretsch guitars in my day. One was a 70s or 80s 6120. The other is a 1954 6120 that is in excellent condition. Both had amazing action and playability.

If I ever needed a hollowbody, I'd be looking through a pile of Gretsch guitars for what I like. Those necks just feel great.

I've been going back and forth between the Artcore and a Dot. Went to GC last night to pick up a Dot and seen the Gretsch for not too much more. I'll let you guys know.

It seems like it. I figured I'd run it by you guys to see if anyone has owned one.

I've got it on hold until tomorrow, I'll pick it up tonight or tomorrow and post a review.

The Electromatic Hollowbody is more authentic/better constructed. About the same price.

I picked up the Gretsch Sunday. I was waiting for the dude from GC to get a h/s case in for it. One word, HOLYFUCKINGSHIT!!!!! This thing rocks!

I am a lifelong bass player(quit with the stupid jokes ) but have played and owned "guitars" for 15 years. I've always had a decent acoustic and shitty electric guitars, Epiphone Budgets or Squire Cheapies. This is the first decent guitar I've owned and almost shit on myself after stringing it and plugging it in.

I have to go now!

I play ES335's but I own a vintage Gretsch Tennesean that I bought new in 1964. It plays great and sounds great. It was my main axe until I retired it in 1980. The only reason why I don't play out with it is because I am afraid something will happen to it. I don't like a lot of the newer cheap archtop Gretsches they are not made as well. Brian Setzer popularized them again.
I have tried the Nashville and Country Gentleman models and they seem to be high quality and sound great. I used my Gretsch for fusion and straight ahead Jazz ... got a lot of funny looks, but I loved the sound.
I played it through a Kustom 200 amp, a Supro tube amp, and a Traynor tube amp. All sounded really clean and good.

I had no idea playing guitar was enjoyable. I thought it's just what had to be done to get the guitar tracks down without bringing a guitar player in to do them.

I'm Jones'ing to get home from work to plug it in.

Last night, a friend gave me his Fender Bassman to keep for awhile. I haven't plugged it in yet but I'm psyched.
