JBL LSR4328P Monitors

I spent quite a bit of time checking these out. I was skeptical, as I am with any new product, and eventually bought a pair of these monitors. I have a studio in the loft of my house; it's a nice space, but doing a complete acoustic treatment would be difficult. The room design presents no serious problems and my recordings have been satisfactory. What is my impression of these monitors? Zowee! Holy Cow! Cowabunga! I am convinced JBL is on to something here. The speakers calibrated themselves to the sonic characteristics of my sound room and the result is the most neutral sounding speakers I have heard yet. It's as if the speakers disappear and the sound remains. Even at the lowest volumes, I can hear the most intricate detail. Turned up they retain the same clarity and definition without any discernable coloration. Are they worth the price? For me, the answer is yes! They do everything they are advertized to do and do it very well. Check 'em out.

Tac,
I was just wondering how the LSR4328p's translate to other systems for you? After reading EQ magazine's
recent interview with Nathaniel Kunkel, I've been interested in the JBL LSR monitors. I suspect he was referring to the 63 series but that's more than I want to spend. Before you chose them, what other monitors did you check out, and was it the room mode calibration that sold you the most? I also am set up in an upstairs room open to the downstairs (very loft like), thus making treatment more difficult.
Thanks,
Chris

The studio I used to be at got 5 of those for a suround sound set up.

In the brief time that I got to listen to them, I found them to sound scooped. I much preferred the Genelec 1031As that are the stereo set.

The JBLs seemed to have much less information in the all important mids and seemed to add a touch of air to the overall mix.

They are fine (they are also very big physically) just for my mixes, my speaker of choice at the moment is the 1031a.
