Question

Hey, I was wondering about the prospect of mixing my recordings down to a mini disk? A friend of mine who's in a band with me, and who I plan on recording solo material for has a mini disk with a cable that goes to the USP(or is it USB?) port on computers. I thought this was a good idea, because neither of us have sound cards that are any good, so we don't have line level inputs. This way we can actually burn CDs of our recordings. Do any of you have any hints? Any drawbacks, or really good reasons to use this medium? Can't wait to hear back on this.

I'm not an expert on mini-disks, but I think most of the recorders have some sort of compressor on the input. I think as long as you keep the level to where it's not compressing alot (unless you want that), you should be ok. good luck!

Talking Atrac comp. !

If you are talking about atrac compression that all mini disk have, there is no way to bypass that compression. It basicaly throws away signals that are masked by other signals by either difference in volume or frequencys that are the same.
