Pops and Clicks with Cubase LE and Firepod
Sorry for posting the same question but in a different place...
When I try to record with any mic thru the firepod into cubase le, there's always a load of clicks and pops that screw up the entire recording. I've tried new cables, all the drivers are updated, made the latency as large as possible, etc. What should I do?? Thanks for the help, Mike |

Synchronization?
Hi,
It sounds like a syncronisation problem. There should be a setting on Cubase to set the internal clock - in Device Setup, VST Multirack I think - set the clock to external and the firepod should be on master not slave. Dan |

There's possible conflicts with firewire interfaces depending on whose chip you have. Something like certain interfaces only work properly with Texas Instruments-based firewire chipsets ... or something. Look into it.
The other thing is whether your PC is an Athlon CPU with a VIA chipset. There are lots of cases of people struggling with those ... including myself where the PCI bus basically wouldn't play ball and so all my recordings were full of pops even though the CPU was hardly working at all. Really annoying. It's called PCI Latency, so look into that too. Good luck!

I had the same problem with firebox and Sonar 5, what was heppening in my case that A/D converters were clipping (although the clip light never came on) so when I cut the gain on pre-amp it worked fine, If you havent tried it give it a shot.
