I'm mic shopping and considering a Rode K2 and AKG C451B. I'll be recording acoustic guitar and vocals through a Presonus Firepod. My thoughts are these might work well together for recording acoustic guitar... the K2 good for vocals. Pretty good for the money?
My budget is $1000-1200. Any feedback or other ideas? If so, why? I know that there are a lot of "what mic should I get for xyz" here, but I'd really appreciate some help from you experts. Thanks. ![]() |

Those should work great for your purposes. There are many opinions and they are all reliable. There are many good mics out there to do this with. The only thing I would suggest is getting two sdc's to record your acoustic. Whether that would be a pair of Pelusos, Oktavas, SPs, Shures, Marshalls, AKGs, Josephsons, or Rodes is a matter of taste and budget.
Two sdc's will come i very handy for creating a stereo image (different mic techniques available by search), use as overheads for drums, and many other applications

Just to reiterate what the big guy said, for un-accompanied acoustic guitar and vocals, having a stereo pair on the guitar really really makes a BIG difference.
