an awful problem with acoustics

so after looking around for basic instructions/tips on (cheeply) improving room acoustics, i hardly found a site that was worth looking at. All i know is egg cartons can cheeply help with diffusion/absorbtion but im having trouble finding a large quanity. i even called local resturants, which didnt work like expected.
does anyone know any ways to help out my recording room (a de-shelved walk-in closet)

im having a major problem with lower frequencys.
maybe anyone here would know how to make a bass trap?

thanks alot!

Cool RE: an awful problem with acoustics

Hi, I'm new here, I understand that your having problems with
the conditions of your room recordings.
Depending on what your instrument/s are
and what recording source your using (tape recorder, computer, etc)
Can make a differance. As far as lining an entire room with
egg cartons and so on, I've heard of it before.
Anyways, A little trick I have learned that might help is after
recording, Using an equalizer on either seperate tracks or
your entire recording can make a huge differance.
If your problem is primarily "room noise" I would suggest
placing your mic/s closer to your instruments to reduce
the ambience your getting... Donno if I helped, But good luck.

Awesome site apl. Once in a while HR.com provides me with something worth while. I just wasted a good 45 min scanning through that site, and I definately need another few hours to read it again and again to get much out of it.

thanks guys.

i wasnt intending on putting them everywhere.
but i think im going to do with some (about) 1 inch foam and either put them parallel to eachother on their corresponding walls or even mess with just one side and recording "aginst it" because my mic doesnt pick up whats behind it (for the most part:mxl v67g)

thanks alot though!
and that site is pretty sweet too
