Geez, I didn't see that till pipeline posted about it. Some of my brethren at PSW are indeed jerks. Bruce, you're welcome to post a link on my REP forum over at PSW.

Now, as far as the new unit:

I'm on a 44k dialup and it would take me 3 hours to download the whole unit, assuming I could manage to stay on for 3 hours without dropping the call.

I can't get DSL out where I live (in the sticks). Can't get cable either.

But you can get Direct PC. I had it before cable internet access came to my area (I'm in Texas as well). Direct PC is owned by Direct TV. You need a seperate small satellite and a satellite modem (provided by the Direct PC).

Fast download speeds, I think the uplink is still analog phone line, but who cares. Susceptible to rain fade just like all satellites so you do lose signal strength during bad rain storms.

Just an option if you want/need it.

Bart

Hey Bruce, just wanted to thank you for posting all your experience and tips online for free. The audio/video stuff is great. It's great to see and hear a technique rather than just reading about it. I've also read through a bunch of your articles and while I may be one of those "hobbyist engineers", I have already picked up a few things that hopefully will help my next mix. Thanks again!

Thanks Bruce...it is always nice to see people giving back....On a side note I just checked the PSW thread and for all its worth they are actually being nice 2 you....They are all a bunch of cool cats over there if you don't get offended by stuff really easily....take it all with a grain of salt....
