DDrum Triggers - Use or Don't Use?
Hey, I have been wondering about something related to Drum Triggers for sometime now. I have thought about buying some DDrum Triggers ever since I heard about them, due to the awesome sounds that they can produce. However, there is one concern that has been on my mind: If I were to use the triggers on my drums, then use overhead mics for my cymbals and hi-hat, would the sound of the drums on the overhead mics interfere with the sound the triggers produce? I have come to the conclusion that this would quite obviously happen. Does anybody have any ideas of how I could do this without getting electric cymbals and still use drum triggers on the drums? If any of you could give me some advice that would be great! Thank you for your time, as always.

I do this all the time. The drums in the overheads helps make everything sound less triggered. If you really don't like the interaction between the triggered sounds and the overheads, use a high pass filter on the overheads set somewhere around 300hz (ymmv) and use some parametric to take out some of the snare in the overheads. You will also need to turn them down, you will end up with a Centry Media sort of drum sound.
