Basic headphone question

Hey everyone, im finally upgrading from the worst setup imaginable (it was rediculous). So i got a fast track pro, ableton live with it, ive had cool edit pro, and im still not sure on which mic i should get.
But now im up to headphones (id want those because of price:quality, and the fast track pro comes with a headphone preamp.)

so i cant really give you much of a price range...deffidentally under 100.
i am really just looking for the cheepest i can get for simi-decent headphones.
id just be messing with acoustic guitar and vocals for the most part, and somthing with a decent flat response is (obviously) all i need.

Hi there!

If you're going to be using a condenser mic for recording vocals, I'd recommend looking for fully enclosed headphones in order to prevent spill into the mic when recording. Even if you get a different pair for mixing, with better frequency response and all that, the fully enclosed headphones will give you a better chance at attaining a cleaner recording.

thanks to you to man.....so are the athm40fs fully enclosed....i was looking at the v67g condenser mic...would they leak into my mic?

Yes, they are fully enclosed. I had mine for many years, they were comfy and sounded good.

Sennheiser HD280's are great. They have an amazing amount of isolation, which lets you hear the recorded sound somewhat separated from the direct sound in the room when you are monitoring and placing mics. The flip side to the isolation is that you can crank the mix without worrying about the sound bleeding out either.

I have Audio-Technicas and they definately don't let any sound out cranked up, but I've heard that Sennheisers sound way better for monitoring or just listening and isolate just as well.
