Question "Invalid project file (.npr)"

Why won't nuendo projects processed in nuendo 2 work in nuendo 1.6?
None of the songs are recorded above 44.1, and it's not an issue with plug-ins. Any ideas?

Have a nice evening.

Not backwards compatible I'd think. I'm not 100% sure about that version, but version 2 cubase files can not be opened in cubase 1, and since nuendo is very much like cubase, I suspect the same is true there. Tough luck.

Thanks.

Would it be possible to upgrade from nuendo 1 to cubase sx2 or 3?
Upgrade to nuendo 3 at ~ $800 is not really an option.

Not sure, you'd have to check with Steinberg. I suppose so, though.

invalid project file *.npr

I am using Nuendo version 3.0.2. When I was trying to save the project file before turning Nuendo off, Nuendo did not save and instead the computer crashed. When I turned the computer back on and try to open the project file, Nuendo would not open and a pop up menu would come on saying
InVALID PROJECT FILE "file.npr"!

Does anyone know if it is possible to recover an older *.npr version if it was not explicity saved?
I looked at the npr file with a hex editor. The NPR file is 1.08MB big, but all zeros.

Version 3 is a little old, but I vaguely remember something like this. If you were to unplug the dongle, then plug it back in, do you get the Found New Hardware pop-up???

I think there are some wires crossed unless I'm mistaken.

The OP has a corrupt session file which is zero filled - essentially, and I'm trying to think of the technical term but 'screwed' comes to mind.

No there is no way to recover from such a problem without a backup - sorry.

Correct

A corrupted project file cannot be fixed.

Always store your work as a new project file from time to time.

They did in 2005 when that post was made.

Ahhh....thread necromancy.

Look in the folder for a .bak file. Change the suffix to npr and try to open that. It should be the last time nuendo autosaved.
