Quick question Re:Cubase SL2 and mixing down tracks, can you help

Hi Guys

I have cubase SL2 build 10. Also an evolution MK 461-C midi controller and BFD(drum module). My sound card is the M-AudioPhile 192.
I have no experience of home recording but I do have a slab sized manual, which isn't helping me, although it covers loads. I've established midi and audio tracks but when I come to mix down it talks about having the midi out set to an audio in. my midi in is 'all midi channels' and out is 'BFD Stereo'. My audio in is 'IN1' and out is 'BUS1' and I can't make a connection between midi and audio.
I've looked at the sound setting properties on the PC but find no reference to midi and the advanced options is greyed out.please can someone explain how to mix down my midi tracks, along with audio so In can play my songs to all my fans (sic) using ,say, windows media player or similar. Please help me as I live on the Isle of Man and no-one here has even heard of home recording...cheers

In the project window set the left and right locators around the MIDI part (BFD) you want to bounce to audio. Solo your BFD VST output channel, and go to File>Export>Audio Mixdown. Now select BFD from the drop down list of available outputs. Select import to pool and audio track options, give the file a name.

Hint: You can dissolve the MIDI track by note pitch, then you can solo just the snare notes, bass notes, etc. so that they can be bounced seperately.

When you are ready to mix the whole song down, just go to File>Export>Audio Mixdown and select Bus 1 as the output, do not select import to pool or audio track options. Just pick a location and save.

Note: You don't have to bounce the BFD seperately, it will bounce down just the same using this method, but bouncing it to its own set of files first just gives you one more level of editibility if you need it.

In the 1st of your two, most welcome replies, I don't have BFD set up as an output but I followed your advise and the output'd track now plays through a new separate audio channel.. Thank you so so much for help. I've been trying to find out how to do this for a long time. I really am new to this and my confidence takes a knock at times because I really don't know what I'm doing, thanks again your a star player, merry Christmas
