Mixing problems

Hi,

I'm using HS2002 and though the help file clearly tell you can route audio tracks to auxiliairy tracks I can't do it.
Choices are limited to bus A-B-C.

I'd like to group audio tracks in 3 groups, each group having one reverb and output them to a virtual bus using a final reverb.

I haven't used HS2002, but the Sonar version it is based on used to be able to define the number of AUX busses available in the OPTIONS-AUDIO menu.

You can not route the entire audio track to an Aux Bus. Rather it is treated as a send, where part of the track is routed to the Aux Bux and the other part is routed to the Main Bus.

I'm not familiar with HS2002, but in Sonar you enable the Aux Bus (send) by going to the FX tab in Track View and clicking on the little square in the Bus control area until it "lights up."

If the controls for the Bus do not show up already, right click on the track and choose "insert send" from the popup menu and then choose the appropriate bus from the list.

Finally I understood how to send from audio track to auxiliary bus with the faders.

The newer versions of Sonar (v3 forward) provide universal routing capabilities. This allows you to send any track to any bus, and also to route any bus to any other bus.

So, for example, you can send three tracks of background vocals to a Bus called Vocals, and then route the Vocal Bus to the Main Bus. What this does is, 1) you can still control the volume of each vocal/pan from the individual track faders, 2) you can contol the volume of the Vocals as a single entity using the fader on the Vocal Bus, 3) you can patch one effect onto the Vocal Bus that will handle all three vocals, etc.

It was, for me, a dream come true.
