punch ins in acid?

i've been using acid for some time but i have never punched in. i'm guessing you just can't and every new file has to have its own new track?

i can just bounce them all down to one after i'm done i guess but it would be easier if i could just punch in on the same track

Unfortunately, that's correct. This to me will always be the major drawback of Acid.

That's the Acid version of "comping" where you create one track from several takes.

One thing I've done is to play a couple of different parts while recording a track and then editing it after. That's not always a practical approach, though.
