cable question

is the cable that connects the 1/4 in. preamp output to a recording device's 1/4 in. input the same as guitar cable?

if they are unbalanced outputs, then a guitar cable would work fine....probably would work even if they were balanced outputs, but not sure on that one...havent tried...

Yeah- it's the same as a guitar cable.

Signal cable needs to be shielded. Speaker cable is not shielded.

Check the specs on your preamp. It probably has a balanced, 1/4"TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) output and the input on your recording device probably has 1/4" balanced TRS inputs. Guitar cables are unbalanced, 1/4" TS (Tip Sleeve). So, ideally, you should be using balanced cables, but a guitar cable will work until you can upgrade.
