Question about getting stared

I am an avid listener to hip hop and wanted to maybe fool around alittle bit with making beats. Is there a free online site i can go to which allows you to fool around alittle so you can learn the basics? Appreciate any help.

try to pick up a demo of Reason 3.0...learn how to use it, especially if you've got a midi controller, and then buy the real thing if you like it. That's what I'd do...but that's the only major program I've used for what you're looking for.

Fruityloops will give you just drumloops and I think you can get a downloadable demo version...

You want to get stared (at?) and fool around a bit. Am I the only one who read this and immediately thought about suggesting public nudity?

Anyone?
