Starting up

Ok I've decided t finally do something about my urge to record.

I'm bidding on a Zoom MRS-1044CD now I know it's not the best but I can't justify spending alot of money on a recorder.

My initial plan is to have.

MRS-1044CD
Mixer
sm57
SPB1
Cheap drum kit microphone set.

Now I know this won't get me great results but it's a start.

Could you guys please give me some advice about this set up I'm now sure but could you please just post some comments.

Cheers.

to do drum recordings you will need a pair of condenser microphones. You could get a pair of SPB1's. You will probably want a bass drum mic. Then use the 57 on snare. You will need some proper reference speakers (not a hifi) otherwise it will be hard to get your songs to sound right on other stereos.
Good luck!

I know that you will probably ALL kick my ass for saying or even suggesting this but I was thinking about getting a Nady drum mic set.

Opinions?

your better off not getting a drum mic set. Spend money on good overheads, and a good bass drum mic. The overheads should cover the toms well enough. Its better to buy quality then buying rubbish and replacing it within months
