Cubase LE installation problem.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I purchased the Lexicon Omega Interface, which came with Cubase LE. The drivers for my hardware unit went in without any issues, but it was a whole 'nother story in trying to install Cubase LE. I was advised (by Lexicon tech support) to go to START>RUN> and type the installation command in. When I did, the following error message is what I received:

Windows cannot find F:\CubaseNotSilient\Cubase_LE.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click Search.

All of this was done - to the letter - but the problem yet prevails. Another disk is being sent out to me, but the technician stated his belief that the problem was with my computer - as opposed to that program disk. I wondered if anyone, here, has experienced a similar problem with the installation of their Cubase programs and, if so, what was the recipe for correction?

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Try using Windows Explorer to find the file, then double click on it.

Apl,

I just attempted what you suggested, and the situation remains the same. For about a half second I can see the bluish-grey Cubase color jump onto the screen - then it's back to the desktop. Due to the fact that the drivers installed properly, I am beginning to wonder if maybe there is something wrong with my system.

Thanks anyway, though.

Pinachi,

Thanks for your input, also. It so happens that I have two optical drives on my computer: the one is just a cd-rom drive, and the other is a dvd/cd writer combo unit. I have tried the installation procedure via both drives, but the same thing happens. As mentioned before, another disk has been shipped out to me, and I really hope to find that there was indeed a problem with my current program disk (even though the drivers installed off of it correctly). If there is to be a continuation of this problem, with the new disk, then I am really going to be in a pickle. I say this because I am not very technically inclined, regarding computers, and the only way that I would know to, possibly, combat this issue is by formatting/restoring my system. An occasional formatting is - from what I've been given to understand - a healthy action for one's system. But I would sure like to know the reason behind what's presently going on.

Yes formating would be the best thing to to,since it brings you computer to a (0 miles) and fixes a lot of things.

I do that allmost twice a year, just to clean everything up,since i use a lot of different programs, and when i uninstall them they usualy leave stuff behind.Just like my Asio drivers from protools,i could not get rid of them after i uninstalled and sold my M-box.

So yeah formatting would be nice, and its not that hard.

before you zap your hard drive

Go to work or a friend's house and see if you can initiate the install on a different computer. Unless you don't have much on your hd, it's certainly worth the time to make absolutely sure that there's not a problem with the Cubase disk.

JD,

I made a visit to my mom's home, and and attempted to install the program on her system. Guess what? It did!! I mean, it went in without the slightest problem, whatsoever.

I had a huge problem with the back-up disks that had been, previously, created for my system - and there was no other recourse but to get a dedicated XP OS by which to format my computer, and get it back up to running. I did this (after having to purchase another modem, because the one which came with my computer wasn't recognized). At any rate, I have CUubase LE sitting real pretty , on my system now.

After trying the Omega out, I found that I may have yet another problem. I have followed all the instructions - exactly - but can't seem to get anything recorded from the Mic 1/Line 1/Line 3 side of the unit. In fact, the Monitor/Mix knob is the only one, on the left side, that will give response. I have gone over the process a number of times, since yesterday, but will keep fooling with it in hopes that something will change. I was able to get a short vocal recording down (via the Mic 2 input), with my large diaphram Studio Projects B1 mic, and have to say that I was pretty impressed with the quality. I have no doubt that there will be a LOT of fun times with this setup - once I get matters sqared away.

Maybe you have an iffy CD reader.

Just a thought, though it prolly won't work, it may be worth the chance...

Create new folder on your desktop and copy ALL contents of the CD there and see if it'll install from your hard drive...

I've done network admin/PC support for years and have seen a few occasions where no matter what you do you can't get some software to install on certain PCs.. It may install perfectly on another PC that's the exact same model, but not on the other..

You didn't say originally, but you DO HAVE WinXP on your PC now right..??
