Just saw the movie "Rent", having cakewalk problems

Hi everybody! I'm running Pro Audio 9 (not a damn insult from the one of you ), and I'm having some problems. I have a a track with constant panning, and I sent it to a bus along with the track containing cuss words so I can easily make edited versions. The send and return pans on the bus are set dead center, and when the track plays, the vocals that should play on the left play dead center with effects, and the vocals that should play on the right play on the right with no effects. I am left utterly speechless by this incoherent catastrophe of technology. Somebody help me please!!!!!!!!
