PMI B stock sale
Just got an email, (I am not affiliated in any way) and I don't care if you buy this stuff or not. Consider this a heads up, PMI is selling off a bunch of Studio Projects and Toft B stock at like half price. T3 for $350, ATC $650 etc.

Received the same e-mail
I received the same e-mail.
A question for anyone who owns or has used both the SP T-3 and Groove Tubes GT-66. I have the Groove Tubes GT-66 and like it on my voice and acoustic guitar....considering the SP T-3 as a vocal mic. Anyone with first hand experience able to compare and contrast? Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Bart |

I got the T3 for $350, and I'm partially funding it by selling an extra RNC that I never use for $130 shipped. PM me if you're interested.

Stetto, it will be interesting to see who gets them, of if they honor the price if they oversold them, because I ordered two JM27s on the ninth also, but in the afternoon. Paid $30 bucks each, shipping included. Hopefully everyone who ordered some will get them as promised.

We'll know for sure when the little brown truck pulls up this week... Eric

Hmm, I ordered a T3 and they never updated the quantity either. CI2, was the listing "1 available" when you ordered yours?

You might be one of at least 3 people fighting over potentially only 1 B-Stock T3's. CI2 and I both ordered one before you, and it definitely said 1 available before and AFTER I ordered.

In any case, I know I'm getting one because I've tracked my UPS shipment. It's coming tomorrow for me. I would call up PMI and ask them if they've shipped you one or if they plan on doing so. |

I just got that tube. Thanks for the tip. A friend of mine that got the T3 said the tube upgrade was an improvement for him. Is the tube on the T3 socketed?

Yo Rez! Yes, I'm sorry, Stephen Paul passed on, and it was a great loss to many people. This is one where I think Alan Hyatt did the right thing. He had the business acumen to meet the (very tough) requirements of an eccentric mic genius who was unfortunately, dying. Stephen wanted to build "Godzilla", projected to be a $40,000+ studio mic. There's damn little market for $40,000 mics, so I figure Stephen believed he'd have to build a mic a mere mortal could afford,to pay for the Godzilla project, and the Hyatts had the vision to put up capital. His mission was to blow Neumann, B.L.U.E., et al. out of the water with a less than $2000 mic. Did he achieve it? I've never heard the prototype.
Now, I would not wish on PMI a cash flow problem, but taking some time to bring Stephen's mic to the market is a very good move. Stephen and Alan both suggested that the mic employed revolutionary technology and design, and were very tight-lipped about it. All that really matters is whether this mic, which for good or ill, will be Stephen's legacy, rocks. As far as I know (fairly little), PMI's claim to the proceeds of the mic, and any of Stephen's estate, was long since settled to all party's mutual sayisfaction. I don't think the issues are legal, or that the mic won't be built, but I'm betting it's a tough mic to build properly in a cost-effective fashion. That's the challenge to PMI. Better to do it when you really can than too soon badly.-Richie |
