Some Cubase help

hey guys, qwik question here. I'm just started doing hip hop beats in reason. i got cubase with my Lexicon Omega to record. would it be wise to export each of the different tracks in reason to a dedicated wav file and mix it in cubase or to mix it all down in reason. any help would be appreciated thanks.

Use Rewire. Open up Cubase, open up Reason, back in Cubase, go to Devices menu and you should see Reason. Open this up, and select the Reason outputs you want (By default there are 2 Reason outputs, the left and right Reason Mixer outputs). Cubase will create mono mixer channels for these (if you want each reason track to have its own mixer channel in Cubase, simply bypass the Reason mixer and Route each track to a Rewire output at the very top, and remember these are not stereo so you need 2 seperate outputs for stereo instruments). Now back in Cubase you can treat these tracks as if they were any other track, and apply VST and DirectX effects, bounce them down, and so forth...

Atterion's advice is definately the answer.

You'll have to decide wether or not your CPU can handle doing everything at the same time though.

If you're PC can handle Rewire / Reason / Cubase with audio tracks in cubase + realtime effects, then you're ready to Rock! (or rap, whatever turns your crank)

A while back, with my Reason 1.0 and a sub-par computer, due to CPU usage, it was critical that I export to WAV from Reason before importing into the multi-track software.

Try Rewire though, it's a huge time saver and it allows you to modify your Reason tracks without goofing around with wav exports/imports.
