pro cd player question connected to a mixer
Forgive me if this quesiton has been asked of the group. Say I have the Soundcraft series M12 mixer and I am interested in being able to connect a CD player to it. For this generic example, we'll just say for DJ work and I'll be referring to Numark CDN90. The specs on this dual CD player says it has S/PDIF coax digital outputs and it doesn't even tell you the operating range (i.e. +4 or -10 dB) and it doesn't look like it has RCA connections. I have a couple questions about this setup. 1) If you connect the rca to your mixer, this would mean it is -10dB, correct? 2) can you convert this S/PDIF coax digital output to 1/4" or XLR? 3) what is the point of S/PDIF coax digital output if you're connecting it to an analog board? 4) If I am just interested in being able to play CDs through a mixer with +4dB, would it be cheaper to invest in a different method/CD player? If so, what? I don't understand why DJ type CD players have this digital output and not your regular XLR or 1/4" setup.

after looking at more CD players, not just DJ ones, they call them "Professional" when it uses RCA. Such as:
