Post Fender Vibrolux Custom - Reviews Please

Hello Fellow Rockers!

I'm thinking about buying a Fender Vibrolux and would like to know if anyone has one and what they think. I play Rock / Blues and will use it with a nice old peavey 212 cab I have. I'm also thinking about running it in stereo with my Marshall JCM 2000 DSL401 and a Marshall cab which sound sweet!

I'm in search of the perfect studio rig. Both will be miked and run into Mackie Onyx mixer - computer and Sonar. Funnnnnnnnnnn!

Thanks & Rock on!!!

Awesome amp...I have one. The break-up is smooth and warm, but I changed out the stock GT 6L6 tubes with Svetlana 6L6 tubes. It cut down on the inherent hum with the amp. Because of the hum and the volume you have to crank it to get the warm tube sound, I wouldn't recommend it for a home studio. But if you can deal with those 2 things, go for it.

...just my 2 cents.

I've bought and sold a lot of amps through the years. The only one I kept was a Vibrolux. Loud enough for most places, breaks up at low volumes and the number one reason for having one........it's not very heavy.

I've got one of these and love it to bits.
Do replace the stock tubes if you get one though.

I also have a CVR. It's amazing. There is a bit of hiss, but the trem is amazing and the breakup is as smooth as can be. I picked it over a Bassman and over a Boogie when I went shopping for a good tube amp.

I think that you'd have trouble with your 2X12" cab, though. The speaker outs on the CVR are rated for 4 ohms, and its hard to match that impedance in standard cabs with 12" speakers.

And that's my two, so now you have eight cents.

Oh, and try to find one used...people unload them and they tend to sit in guitar shops for a long time while people look past them to the Twins and Bassmans (Bassmen?). I've seen them sell for $650-$750 used in excellent condition, and that will save you a hunk of change over a new one.
