soundcard

Hi,
I have a Pentium 4 - 1.8 Ghz - 256 ram, running win xp pro sp2.

Can anybody tell me wich soundcard is recommended for this system so I can run sonar professional edition v 4.0 properly?

(I hope my english is a bit legible 'cause I'm Belgian and I speak Dutch)

Greetz

That's a big question...the answer is,...it depends.

How many input/outputs do you need? Do you prefer PCI, USB or firewire? Do you need any midi or S/PDIF with that?

You really need to ask yourself what's the plan and go from there. I'm a fan of the M-Audio Delta1010 series but there are so many products out there. Some people are saying that PCI is on it's way out but as long as computers have PCI slots, the PCI based cards work great and can be had at a bargain.

By the way, Cakewalk lists some of the compatable cards and their capabilities on the cakewalk website. http://www.cakewalk.com/tips/audiohw.asp

Good luck
