Yo

I'm thinking of getting a Ibanez Talman 620, 630 or 740.
I mostly play punk & ska but also experiment with other types of music. think it's a good guitar to get for a budget of about 600-700$ ? and any idea on which of the above is the best?

k, thanks for any comments

I think there are better guitars for that price honestly. Fender strats work well for the punk/ska sound.

Talmans are cool but they have small bodys.
You can get a strat with two singles and a humbucker for around $250, only deal is its a squier.

while bored at guitar satan, I picked a talman up and notice that thru heavy distortion you could hear each note well, then when I went to a clean sound it hurt my ears. I thought I was going to break a string it was so brittle sounding. SOOOOOO If you want a distortion only guitar the talman is cool. BUT if you want a good clean sound now and again look else where.

go with the strat

But get the American Standard rather than the Japanese or Mexican versions.Maple neck sounds brighter and Rosewood is warmer.I dropped a stack humbucker in my bridge slot for added versatility and "vintage reissue 57s" with the extra winds for extra voltage in neck and mid positions.I don't want to get religious on you,but the Strat is THE most versatile axe IMHO.
