How many/much guitar effects do you use on a regular basis??

I couldn't find anything exactly like this and thought it could be interesting, and I'm talking about the majority of your playing (I realize that you may do things differently sometimes)...

p/c

My pretty constant signal chain is guitar -> MXR SuperComp -> Snarling Dog SuperBawl Whine-O wah (say that ten times fast) -> Ernie Ball Volume -> MXR KFK-1 10 band EQ -> Line6 DL-4 delay -> amp (Orange AD30TC). The SuperComp is on almost all the time, but at a very light compression. Wah is rarely used, as most of the time it doesn't fit what we play. EB Volume is a godsend...no pedalboard should be without one. KFK-1 was orignally used as an active signal splitter when I ran a stereo rig, but now I just use it either to get occasional insanely scouped or midrangey sounds, or to get that telephone/bullhorn effect by cutting all frequencies except one extremely boosted mid around 2Khz. Delay is used frequently when playing fills or on some really driving clean riffs (ala U2).

Sometimes I'll add a Line6 MM-4 in before the DL-4 just to get some far-out sounds, but that's pretty rare.

Ibanez Fat Cat distortion (a proco rat ripoff pedal from the 80s), mxr phase 90, and a TU-2 tuner. Sometimes I'll use the footswitch on my amp for additional distortion (since i rarely turn the distortion level past 4)

Over the years I have experimented with various stomp pedals and sound prosessors and I've always came back to the basic. Plug it in and let the tubes do the talking. Experimenting with different types of power tubes offer a different tone as well . When you get right down to it, it's all to the players taste.
Just my opinion. Thanks Kennyboy

I'll use some reverb, but that's about it. I have a few various pedals, but haven't used them in many-many years. IMO, effects get used way too much.

Posting my pedals:

1) Ernie Ball Volume Used often
2) Bass Crybaby Wah (Yes, for guitar) Used rarely
3) DigiTech Whammy Used rarely
4) Boss TU 2 (Tuner) Used to tune (buhhhh)
5) Boss EQ Used often
6) DigiTech Stereo Flange Used rarely
7) MXR Phase 90 Used often
8) Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Reverb Used often
9) Electro-Harmonix Small Clone Chorus Used almost always
10) Boss Tremelo Used rarely
11) Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster Used for some solos
12) Ibanez Tube Screamer Used for some other solos, and the occasional overdrive fill
13) DigiTech DigiDelay Used often

I'm soon planning on replacing my DigiDelay with a Line 6 DL4 and adding a few things, like another EQ pedal, a Boss Acoustic Simulator, a MXR Compressor, and a Noise Gate (Have to do research on that one).

Cool Only reverb but otherwise purist (currently)

Distortion, reverb, EQ (for solo boost), and occasionally chorus are about it for me. Oh, yeah, compression sometimes.

The simple life

Yeah I like a simple setup my Fender Hotrod deluxe amp which has distortion and reverb on it already. I bring 2-3 guitars to jam instead of pedals.
I used to have a GNX 4 but it cosed so many problems and the sound quality wasn't really worth the price (the distortion on it especially).

Among my Digitech rack effects (reverb, flanger, chorus, etc.) I also use a distortion pedal.

...

And then when I'm playing jazz, sometimes I like to use my Roland RK-2 hex pickup with a Roland GR-50 synth unit.

Your chain reminded me of my setup when I played in my old band The Fabulous Lounge Punks:

Gibson Les Paul Studio into...

Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive
Boss DS-1 Distortion
MXR Distortion +
Danelectro Daddy-O Overdrive
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi
Boss DM-3 Delay
Boss TR-2 Tremolo
Boss PH-2 Super Phaser
Boss BF-2 Flanger
Crybaby Wah
Danelectro Dan Echo

...into a '74 Fender Twin.

I ran the Twin clean and used different distortions or overdrives for different songs.
