anybody using a firewire interface with n-track?

I just bought a Yamaha i88X to try out with n-track, since I'm having trouble with the my pair of Delta 44s. Does anybody out there have any experience with these two products, used together? Any compatibility issues?

Yeah, I've used a Motu828mkII previously, and I'm currently using a hercules FW 16/12. There's a few firepods and the like over on the ntrack forums too.

I also use a Motu828mkII with a Gateway laptop and a Glyph firewire drive.

Zero problems.

cool, thanks. I guess I'm a little more worried about the Yamaha interface in particular. There are some real horror stories about this thing, then on the other hand, some people think its the greatest thing ever. At $399 I couldn't pass it up...

Some people have reported problems with firewire interfaces due to using firewire chipsets that did not play well with the interface drivers.

For example, Motu demands that you use Texas Instruments firewire chips (I have heard that TI chipsets work best with audio apps but that is only what I have heard). Since I was going with an 828mkII, I made sure to check out that the laptop I was buying had TI chips. I would suggest you find out from Yamaha what Yamaha's interface was built for....

supposedly its the same deal. The i88X wants to see a TI chipset. I have a SIIG NIC card with a TI chipset, so I think I'll be alright.

We'll see. UPS is supposed to deliver today.
