DIY rackmount breakout box

Curious whether anyone has ever created a rackmount breakout box. If so what options they chose and how they designed it. For me I'm considering using a 1U panel with MIDI in/out with several analog I/O on balanced and unbalanced 1/4” TRS and I'm not sure what else! Would appreciate any feedback.

You can get rackmount panels that are prepunched for a number of different connectors. I've done a couple of those. What is on the other side of your inputs, a DB connector or something?

Thinking of having two MIDI I/O jacks with female 1/4" TRS analog jacks for: main in/out and monitor outputs. At least that's what's on my mind, up to this point! Thoughts/comments?
