Sansamp recording and playback?
I'm getting a sansamp rbi soon, and was thinking about how I would set it up. First off I'm just a lone gun here so Instead of hooking up the direct bass into the sansamp and then have the sansamp out (booth clean and effected channels) go to seperate tracks....
Why not just record the bass direct to the recorder and playback the clean recorded bass track thru the sansamp? Since I'm a lone gun here, I won't be able to be playing and listening for the exact sound I want the sansamp to reproduce. I would either have to set it up in advance before I start or more likely just play around with it on the recorded track till it fits right. My only concern or question about this is, would the DI recorded bass track play thru the sansamp the exact same way as if the signal came direct from the bass amp in real time? I would think it would be pretty similar as long as the pre's used to DI the Bass where Completely transparent. Thanks, Mongoo |

The technique you are talking about has been done with amplifiers, and it's called "re-amping". I don't know how well it would work with a Sansamp. I guess it would depend on how good the signal was going in, how it was recorded, and on what.
I've got the Bass DI, and it's pretty easy to plug headphones in and dial up a tone. I don't see why you would want to do it this way. And as for fooling around with the signal while you are recordring; can't you rehearse it before you record? That part doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps you are not explaining it right.
