studio ceilings

Hi there,
Was wondering if it is beneficial to have a flat ceiling in a studio or on a slope. If so, what benefits, if any, does an angled ceiling have?

A slope on the ceiling provides the same benefits as non-parallel walls - just in the vertical plane. It's definitely a benefit as long as it doesn't cause unecessary loss of room volume.

Which way would the slope be? From the front to back. (so sloping behind you?)

About half way down, there's discussion of expansion versus compression ceilings. It may point you in the direction that best suits your need.

it depends on ceiling height or so i was told. i dont think anybody will have a ceiling that low to really truly effect the sound.but if you want it i say go for it.

If you're going to do the wavy thing I'd make sure it was a slatted ceiling then. If not, you'll have all of the concave sections focusing sound in an unwanted manner - especially if it's right over your mix position or over any seating for any 'standers-by'.
