Think about buying an Art Microphone Preamp. Anyone have any thoughts about this unit, Pros.-Cons.-ect.?

Hi,

Serach for that preamp (art tube) on the forum and you'll get more info than you can shake a stick at. It's the most common preamp around.

I use the ART dual channel mic pre; it's not too bad. You need to experiment a bit with the input VS output dials; you can easily get too much punch and distort a vocal; on the other hand, you can get it right to the right point on your dials/meters and get some great stuff.

If you're real rich, try to audition the MartinSound Mic preamp. It is supposed to be VERY GOOD. But, it runs more than 1k.

Keep twiddling the dials,

Green Hornet

The ART Tube PAC is a step up in sound and price, and it has an optical compressor that works well on several sources I've tried, but isn't as flexible as other comps out there. The PAC has a wall plug, not a transformer/
