Darn!

I think my computer's power supply fan is going out. I really don't feel like taking my PC apart today... It's Sunday, damn it. See ya.

According to your header you posted that at 8:54am Monday.

Oh, right, timezones...almost forgot.

If the airflow is still happening but the fan is noisy then you can wait until Monday (your time). Make sure it is the power supply fan though - its also very common for chipset and graphics cards fans to get noisy. CPU fans are a possibility but tend to be a bit more reliable (especially the original Intel or AMD ones - we don't see many of those at all).

The other thing to watch - if you have a standard ATX power supply a new supply might not be worth much more than the fan, and is less hassle to change.

Got it -- it was the large power supply fan.

Yep, the power supply is definitely a throwaway when the fan goes in a repair dept setting, but since it’s my own I can take the time to swap it.

It's not too bad -- just remove the seal that says "No Serviceable Components Inside" four screws and soldering two wires on the circuit board. I have a few of those fans lying around in a box, but they're only $5 or $6.

But don't touch the large capacitors.

It’s bad for your complexion.

I usually replace them with 10 dollar dual-ball bearing ones, never hear from them again.

Yeah, I've got computer parts around here that are so old they say "Made in USA" on them. I'm going to have to upgrade.
