Can I produce pro mixes with gear from Behringer?

I read somewhere that Behringer makes the best budget mixers, preamps and mics. Since I'm on a tight budget, I feel that Behringer equipment would make my music sound great while saving a dollar or two.

I play the kazoo, harp, cello, kalimba and sitar doing Hindu-based, Kentucky blue-grass gangster rap and have been told that Behringer mixers and pres will make me sound like a pro.

Is this true?

MISTERQCUE has also recommended Behringer equipment and seeing his many positive posts on this line of gear Behringer just has to be the best in budget pro gear!

Hate to come on the joke thread and be all serious but have any of you guys heard the sound clip from John Scrip(Massive Mastering). He used the really cheap oktava's and the behringer two channel toob pre that has the tube glowing in it. Have a listen http://studio-central.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=21759

i would recommend Behringers Ultra-Pro line over the Pro line.
i've read the Ultra-Pro units last almost 3 months longer.

I too read that Behringer makes the best stuff. In fact I have read that several times. Too bad each one of those times was in a Behringer ad

have any of you heard the Behr demo CD, it's horrible. They go through all types of instruments, and it doesn't please the ear. I thought all the hype or lack of here about behr was all puristic banter, but I saw the main complaint come to life with my friends board. I hear that the Behr stuff doesn't last, you don't even have to use it much or bang it around and it breaks, sometimes out of the box. It took three years of very light use on my friends board for it to crap. The headphone jack is making noise, sometimes the Aux's don't want to act right, and the thing has a wierd humm on occasion, And it Just stopped panning for stereo recording, never has come back. remember if you buy Behr gear chances are it'll break, or it'll come broken already, just read some horror stories posted. I think sound quality is good though, but it doesn't mean much if it's a ticking bomb.

Behringer make a half decent headphone amp in the HA4700. The V-Amp Pro, for the price, and if you skip all the presets and set up your own sounds is a very useable bit of kit with IMHO better routing options than the Pod Pro.

I'm not a Behringer basher, but at the same time I wouldn't go out and look to buy a piece of behringer gear without it coming with a very high recomendation from someone I trusted....even then, I'd want to go in the store and try it out in great detail......even then, I'd only buy from a store with a good returns policy on faulty goods as Behringer's QC doesn't get the best of praise.

A local large store (not GC, but the local retail space is as large as any GC) recently dropped Behringer gear because of various ongoing quality issues.

I am not a fan of Behringer - although I do own a few select pieces (the headphone systems are pretty good, some of thier compressors and eq's are decent).

I've often thought the Behringer bashing was somewhat unfair - in part based on my satisfaction with the B gear I own and comments of others I know who use some Behringer gear. However, when I hear that a large store drops the entire line because of concerns with quality, well that pretty much skeaks for itself.

Personally, I think that the Behringer headphone amps are about as bad as they come. At least as far as sound quality is concerned. However, they are cheap, offer a great combination of I/O, and have all the right features to make them very useful which is why I have one. Certainly not for sound quality though. The Behringer compressors however are a pretty decent sound for what you pay for them. Also, I had a Behringer patchbay once that seemed OK, and once again very affordable. I metered the patchbay and consistently found that it introduced about .5 db of noise when you run through it (per channel). Also, I thought that the 1/4" jacks on it were not very secure (plugs come out with very little pressure needed). The switches per channel for the different normalling functions is a nice plus though

I've never fully understood the appeal of the Behringer headphone amps, as they do get praised quite often. I bought one a while back and got rid of it almost immediately. So flimsy, it did not sound good, and I thought it got hissy and crapped out very easily. So I'm always a bit surprised to read raves about these units.

However, I do own a Behringer Ultra-Curve 2496. I do find the metering to be excellent on this box, both the RTA and level meters. Inexpensive and very useful for that purpose, one of the better things that Behringer makes in my opinion.

I agree that the3 Behringer headphone amps sopund pretty bad. What I like though is that they get good and loud. I have had mione for 4 years or more now and have not had a single problem with it. No blown channels or headphones. My Fuhrmans could never keep up with the loud drums and guitar. I do my own personal mix monitoring through my Lucid though

I've toyed around with the idea of an all-Behringer recording studio.

That would be pretty nifty.

There's a store here in Sav ga. that told me they are not ordering anymore Behr monitors, the quality and return thing. I don't know if they are doing that with all behr stuff.

Hello all, MISTERQCUE -A.K.A. BassPeace here!

I'm glad most of you understand the irony of this thread! My only intentions were to mimic the constant & repetitive, bi-weekly posting of Behringer "Is Behringer any good" threads and/or polls posted in this forum!

I'm no gear snob nor a pro and neither do I feel ALL of Beh's products are @ss-crap (the early comps & ECM8000 omni are workable) but an individual who purchases Beh gear to save a few bucks sacrifices quality, perf and reliability on Behringer.
"But I'm a 16-yr-old Hi-Skl/23 yr-old w. lo-pay job/35 yr old w. 2 kids & a mortgage/55yr old "I got no time wastin $$"/musician-recordist-newbie looking for cheap, entry level gear!"

Behringer is NOT entry level but NO LEVEL AT ALL!!!

If you're on a budget, there are many Co.s that make reliable & cost-effective gear such as Yammy, Samson and the like!

When it comes to Behringer...RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!

Peace
MISTERQ.............errr......BassPeace.

Unfortunately, it seems as though you have inspired a new glut of Behringer threads. More than usual anyway. Sometimes the best thing to do is not say anything.
