Two MixWizard 16:2 would give you 32 channels if you don't need all 24 channels live, you could get away just using one MixWiz live. I have an Allen and Heath GL2400 424 I got for $1800 that works well. I think the preamps on the MixWizards are a little better though. But the GL2400 is pretty good too.

LRosario is an unknown quantity at this point
mackie 24x4 usually works out well.

for the price range, the pres do a pretty good job of standing out compared to others.

Personally I would avoid all of the Mackie stuff unless it says Onyx on it As far as mix wiz's go, I believe they may make link cards for them, but am not sure. The new GL's should be a nice solid console in the price range. The GL preamp actually sounds a little better to me than the mix wiz does, and so does the EQ. It could also be though that I usually don't pull out a mix wiz (channel limitations) when I am running better speakers. The GL's come out more often when a show is bigger than the Mix wiz can handle, whioch often means better crossovers, stacks etc... also, so that comparison may not be too fair. None of them even come close to our Midas consoles though, regardless of the processing and stacks. However, the price tags aren't close either
