Does anyone out there have a Marshall JMP-1 Preamp? I have one and it is very noisy, so I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to decrease the noise coming from it. I heard about a tube mod but can't quite remember the details. Any ideas?

I used a JMP-1 for a few years. It was an essential in my rack. The unit is really not any noisier than any other preamps and quieter than some. (Triaxis is very noisy) The more gain you have the more unwanted noise you will get. I used a Rocktron Intellifex effects unit with the Hush feature. The hush on the Rocktron units seems to work better than any other noise reduction units. You might also want to turn the output down on the JMP-1 and the Power Amp up louder.
