I'm listening Overdrive right now....That is a nice guitar sound at the start. Very cool. Bass is great sounding. sits in the mix very well. Vocals are very clean. Great mix. Everything has it's own pocket to sit, and meshes together very well. Very catchy tune. Lots of sound, and it's all very clear. The lead tone chosen is very complimentary to the clean guitar part. Very nice.

I Know, I Know....Very clean. No clutter in here. Very nice recording. Not my favorite music, but everything is done well. Vocalist has a nice voice. Fits the tune well. Nice drum sounds. Very clean also. Very good recording.

Worth The Fall....Very cool guitar at the star. Very smooth sounding. Cool rythum. Drums are just great. They and the bass make for a great groove. This is another pristine recording. The vocals are damn clean. Sit very well.

Dude, nice tunes. Well done.

I listened to overdrive. Very mellow, 70's-ish tune. The sounds all seem to work well together. Very clean and balanced work.

chessrock, I looked around on your Nowhere Radio site and found this:
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/...=1298&alid=532, a classical guitar recording.

Nicely done especially in the balanced EQ and realistic dynamics.

I listened to a few of these Chess.

Youve done a good job for the most part.

After reading your posts for the last two years it was odd to hear the voice that speaks them,,,heh.

After seeing this, I went back to the page with the 2 heavier songs....

Lies....Very Tool like. Very cool. Very well put together. Great bass tone. Works very well with the vocals. Cool song altogether.

Hole In The Sky.....Cool and Funky. A heavier Primus type tune. I dig it.

These are actually a collection of other people I've recorded over the years. I'm just engineering this stuff.

Thanks for listening, though. There are a lot of projects where I've lent some tamborine and/or shaker tracks, too, though. I don't know too many people who can shake a tambo quite the way I can. he he. Sometimes, I'll just grab a shaker and tell my client: "I'm going to lay a shaker track down for you now." Depends on what kind of relationship I have with them. I also sing a lot of background / harmony vocals for several of my clients' projects.

I can do a lot of little things like that, but by no means can I take credit for the performance of any of these songs. Don't know that I'd want to for some of them, unfortunately. I didn't just say that, okay. That's just between us.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Every once in a while, I just like to hear outside opinions on my engineering / tracking and mixing, as well as get an idea of how my stuff is translating on other people's systems. It's good to get that once in a while. Keeps you on top of things.

I listened to Overdrive. You did a great job on the recording. It sounds very Alan Parsons-ish. I like the music but the vocalist is pretty lame IMO.

I listened to Overdrive....great sounding mix. There's lots going on but everything is still easy to listen to on an individual basis. Even when the heavy guitars come in on the chorus you can still hear the keyboards (on the right channel in my headphones). Those heavy guitars are great (being a guitar player I'm biased though lol). A real pro mix - everything great.

Yeah cool...but if these songs are from different artists, why does every song have a really really loud shaker in it?

Anyone who wants to hear a real-world example of my hand percussion talents ... might want to check out "Kiss me Quick" by Third Wheel off this link: http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/...=1298&alid=381

This was just one of those songs that didn't sound right without it. I think I recorded the tambo and shaker tracks while the band wasn't around.

Listened to Death Waltz.
Sounds cool.

The left guitar sounds a bit too mid rangey IMO. The one that kicks in every so often. (just near the start) once the rest of the mix is in it doesn't sound so bad.
Vocals are well done.
Sounds like how Muse's vocals are mixed. Nice compression and keeping in a nice bit of low end.
I noticed a P at around 1:40. How did you miss that one!

Nice mix man.
Eck

Thumbs up Super

hey there, I'm listning to Death Waltz, and besides being a strange song...it sounds really good. I really like the drums. the bass Drum in paticular, has a nice thump to it. the snare sounds good too ,everything sounds nice and clean, clear. very nice job...if it were mine, i'd bring up the vocals, but I almost always say that ....Very nice job!!!
