Come Together

Come Together

No mic's on this... used only a piezo transducer for each guitar part.
Maybe the lower mids are too hot... my ears are kind of fried mixing it. Let me know how it sounds on your system... especially interested in the EQ balance.

I agree... Lo Mids are fat. Moreso on the right side than the left. Left side guitar is on eht money, or very close, hard to tell with the channel placement, a bit.

You're a mutant, by the way. You're not a Mutant Hamster in Overalls™, but I'll think of one suitable for you. Love your playing, ya rat bastige!

Actually, quite nice tones. I like the sound of your mic'd stuff better, in the Classical contest, but in this Rock song, the sond really fits it well. Without any Room sound, it is a different thing, all togehter. But again, fits teh vibe of this tune, very well. Every note is crisp, yet it captured some of the string noise, so it added that dimension to the tune. The lead/ chorus single notes have a some what bluesy sound to them. Almost like they were amp'd and mic'd. Clean, but with just a bit of dirt in there.
And the playing, well, this is a cool rendition of this song. I've thought of re-doing it, but never this way. This is a treat to listen to.

First off, I hate guitarists like you that make me feel so novice, and I've been playing for quite some years mind you.
Awesome playing, is what I'm trying to say man.
Overall delivery on mix was great, EQ needs some work imo. Primarily the highs. I realize this was done on nylon strings, but high frequencies need a boost, even with nylon. Bring out the highs and you are on it.
Again, NICE frickin' playing, man.

Awesome...I'm a huge Beatles fan, so you BETTER have done this justice...And you did more than that...I love it!!! Love the trade offs between the 2 guitars. There isn't really a rythm and a lead, they both take turns shining...Just like John and Paul would do.

Fabulous playing here and nice tones/sound .....

Still learning about mixing/eq to really say much - maybe towards the end I would have made the right guitar part a tad louder??.

I'm learning a bit about recording from this one. I can hear the difference between direct and mic'ed. Bonus there....

Very Nice!

The one in Piezo thread pretty much doesn't need anything else on it.
----

This one:

0:55 - 1:00 - I like how the "bass" notes sound in this interval. I agree that it sounds a little "hot" in the low mids. Although, I would have just said low frequencies. I think the melody might be adding that nice warmth which maybe be slightly interfering with the bass notes.

1:56 neat sound captured. Very classical sound to it but never leaving the mental rock concert. Gotta love it.

Oh and the Beatles did this first? What the heck? I never was a Beatles fan. I only know of Hey Jude, and that's probably 'coz that was a little too popular with the youngsters a little while ago. I always thought that Aerosmith did this.

* ducking to avoid the crowbar thrown by RAMI and the wrench thrown by Llarion *

Bigbubba...All joking aside, the Beatles are about sooooo much more than just Hey Jude. Listen to Side 2 of Abbey Road...I guarantee it will take you on a musical and spiritual ride you'll regret not experiencing sooner. Listen to Sgt. Pepper (The whole album) or even the album Revlolver. Nothing somes close to any of that stuff until this day, in my opinion.

If you say so, RAMI. I mean to me Beatles sound like a bunch of guys singing pop music. Whatever you call it, for their day it was popular like pop music is today. I always thought of the Beatles as revolutionary force that change the scene of music by making it popular, and by giving people of all ages something to come together about. I think they played a bigger revolutionary role than musical role.

However, since I haven't really heard their music with any interest, I can't say that they didn't have good music. I was just never tempted to listen to them. But a lot of people have told me over the years that they're a good band. Someday I might consider listening to some of their songs.

Real nice Tim. I actually am really liking the tonal qualities of the lower end of that blusey rythem guitar, i might be tired but it felt like it almost had like an old electric piano feel. Leads fit in real nice. Love this rendetion this is going on my personal playlist for sure. Playing is awesome as always. Thought the mix sounded fine. Great stuff.

Take care

I was thinking of mic’ing my SWR amp as a backup plan but the Bluetube worked OK. I kind of like its dirty tube circuit. And that was a cool vocal version you did in the other thread. Thanks Dog.

I’ll give it a try. Originally had the main left and right gtrs with slightly boosted high shelves but then took them out. Maybe I had been on the right track there. Thanks for the suggestion.

Me too for sure. Personally I think they were the best art song composers of the 20th century. Appreciate the listen Rami.

Yeah, I wrestled with whether or not to do some gain riding of the lead line with automation, as it gets a little whispery at the end I admit. Some food for thought there and I’ll consider that when I’m remixing. Thanks ido.

I agree that it needs a little lower mid tweaking on that part. Great comments bigbubba.

True – thanks for listening and the Bill Murray quote! That was a great movie wasn’t it? He’s one of my two favorite comedians, tied with Jim Carrey.

gbav – Thanks for the mix feedback.

apl – Thanks!

the playing, as always, is spot on. i really like the sound you captured, it gives it a sort of lofi charm that definitely fits the tune; it's close to distorting on my monitors. Now i don't know if i should whip out my guitar and practice or whip out my beatles collection and listen! gah!

Very Cool, Tim.

Interesting song choice. It's just a little thing, but I think my favourite part of this is the way you played the "over me" part of the melody. So Sweet. I don't know why, but it makes me smile every time.

This was done all DI? The sounds aren't bone-dry sounding, so I assume you've added some 'moisture' via a reverb. Best piezo sound I've heard to date, hands down.

TL covering Aerosmith !!??!!! Next you'll be covering Peter Frampton and the Bee-Gees!!!!!

Nice rendition of the tune. I was half expecting a sound more like Michael Hedges 'Come Together' from the piezio. Nice stuff Tim.
