digital voice recorders

This may not be the best or most relevant site to post this, but I'm already a member and I think I'll be able to get an answer to my question.

Does anybody know of any good digital voice recorders? I'd like to have huge quality (44.1kHz, 16-bit stereo WAV), so I may also be considering a powered mic rather than the built-in one if it doesn't do the format justice. I found a device called the Neuros digital audio computer. It looks like it's disconituned, but there are still some retail units out there, and also a 20GB Neuros II is available on eBay, which I would assume is the same, only better. So far, it's the only device I found that can record 44kHz WAV files (looks like mono... listed at 5MB/minute). It's primarily an mp3 player.

Optimally, I'd like to have at least 2 hours of recording time, so for CD-quality WAV, I'll need about 1.5GB.

Out of the dedicated digital voice recorders, it seems that they all use flash memory (typically 256-512 MB), and only record to mp3 or 8-16kHz WAV.

Are there any other products comparable to the Neuros, or any digital voice recorders that are capable of this, or should I just go for the more common mp3 recorders?

As for the mic, I'm thinking of going with a low-range bi-directional because it will be used to conduct interviews. I think I once saw a mic about 10 years ago that's designed for interviews; it was a flat square with a wire running through the wall, sitting on a table in a conference room. Does anyone know about this type of microphone?
