Cool I wrote a 10 minute epic

I think it came out pretty decent. It's a 10 minute adventure. There's some acoustic stuff, some prog metal and whathaveyou. I wish I had a better acoustic because mine sounds shitty, but it's not awful.

Anyways, any comments would be great if anyone actually sits through the whole thing.

I'm definitely intrigued, sounds like my kind of thing. I don't have any headphones or speakers right now but I'll listen through and let you know what I think in the next few days

Thumbs up

Nice work! I did not care for the drum sound during the intro, but you worked it out fine for the rest of the "epic". I definatley liked it overall, very Dave Mustaine.

You must like Dream Theater stuff, right? Change of Seasons did it remind me to a lot. Great, great great work!!

The acoustic intro is suffering from loss of highs--probably a function of the piezo pickup. See what you can do with EQ. The drums in the intro sound distorted, might want to use different drum sounds just for the mellow sections.

The rest has a big smiley-face EQ: bass and kick hitting hard in the lows, click on the kick and the hat in the highs, not much in between. Sounds hollow.

Overall, it's a cool tune with good pacing.

I'm a big Dream Theater fan, which is probably obvious.

I guess the drum sound I was going for in the intro didn't quite work out. I kind of wanted that reverbed telephone sound... but it didn't work out right.

What would fall in the mid range for the EQs? Guitars and vox? Or were you talking soley about the drums?

Thanks for the responses guys.

Alrighty, finally got to this one.

I'll type what I think as I listen...

I actually like the acoustic sound and lead tone for the intro.
The drums in the intro around 1:00 sound too distant to me.
Nice electric tones at 1:45. TIght playing!
Hey cool, the song has vocals... I wasn't expecting that after listening for this long. Sounds good.
Love the little acoustic breaks, nice sounds there. Those thinner more distant drums on those parts are starting to grow on me. Maybe it's just the intro that could use some more beef. Good guitar work around 5:00... love how the song seems to build slowly from that point on.
The mood switch at 6:45 is cool, but there's something about the vocals that just doesn't sit right to me.
The rest of the song is excellent. Sounds really intense. Hey, it's only 9:30, false advertising ... actually I think you should extend that acoustic ending a bit more, sounds like it ends too abrupt in my opinion.

Overall, excellent work! Really enjoyed the song

Really nice playing. Cool mix of clean and dist. Nice vocals.

Did I say, good playing?

Awesome writing...

very well done, well performed. I love the genre, DT, the Beard, Flower Kings.

I really liked the drum sound. (after the intro) Drums are a very difficult sound to get right. How many people worked on this? What hardware and software?

Yeah the drums pretty much sucked at the intro, but then when everything came in, holy shit that pumped me up nicely, especially since I didn't know what to expect from this song. So... is it OK to have crappy drums as an intro in order to give the rest of the song a better push? My answer is maybe.

I liked the slow intro...then the kick ass jump to the core of it all.

I agree the intro could be better, especially when you go into such a great song.

This is a great song!!
