Question

I am very interested in the new Yamaha aw4416. I read that apogee's DA AD converter cards will be compatible with this unit but I'm confused as to how they will work. The only input on the card (from what I can make out from Apogee's Web Page) is a 9pin connector. I'm very new to recording so my understanding of audio connectivity is limited. What type of analog source (that uses a 9pin output) would benefit from this high quality conversion?
