VS 880 Ex
I have a friend who has one of these and the CD burner to go with it. he recorded a bunch of tracks a couple years ago and had troble getting them burned at the time. Life gets complicated, and he puts the unit in a closet for 2 years or so.
So no I have it, and I am trying to jsut get the raw tracks off the unit. From the instuctions it seems like backing up song by song is the best trick. Can anyone confirm that I might get somehting useful out of that, wav files to mix on the PC or something? I seemed to get an error on the CD as well, butnot sure if that is me flailing or what, some basiuc guidelines would be helpful as well. Thanks, Dave. |

Set the burn speed to 1x for maximum reliability.
The backup CD's are recorded with some bizarre and proprietary Roland format, that won't work anywhere but a VS machine. The only way an EX can get WAV's to a PC is to record the tracks, two at a time, from the digital outs. Visit vsplanet.com, which is a place filled with Roland wizards. |

You could get wavs from the analog outs too, by recording them as wavs.

Correct. I should not have said the only way. It would be better not to use the onboard AD converters, and then convert again at recording, though.

I like to use the optical outs...avoids the converters and any electrical interference.
I had my transmission fixed in Everett, about 1972. ![]() |

Must have been memorable, since most places here charge on a sliding scale, based on how far away you live...
I can't be blamed, I was about 1 at the time, and living elsewhere. I have witnesses. |
