Anyone play Orange County Drums?

Well? If you do, lets hear some clips. I just saw the thread about drum brands and there were a lot of "other"s.... I figure I'd see if anyone plays OCD's. Anyone ever had experience with these drums? I used to be into them when I first started playing... honestly, (don't laugh) it's because John Otto, the drummer for Limp Bizkit played them. That was 7 years ago though.... although he is a really bad ass drummer.

i've never played on a OCDP set, nor have i seen one in real life, but all i know is you better start saving your pennies if you want to buy a kit from them.

and i've heard you can get custom kits that are pretty much the exact same thing for much less money from companies such as Conaway, Phattie, or Epiarch.

hehe Those OCDP sets are really expensive, but I have never heard one. I've always wondered what it would be like to get a custom made drum with with 1 ply bubinga with a thin outer ply of ebony... but that wud cost way too much, and I don't think any drum makers would do that .

I doubt that would even stay round, the sheel would be too weak. Generally, 6-ply is as thin as they can go without putting reinforcement rings in them.

The thinnest wooden shell around that I know if is the Peavy top of the line model, but it's got that wodden "bridge" thing that you screw into to tight the heads rather thana lugs, and that will keep the drum round, since the bridge is round.

Tim - Check out the pic I attached. I believe this is what you are talking about. The bridges on these are some sort of composite like graphite or something. I think there's also metal rings around the edges of the shells too. I'm not sure off hand.

how much was that peavey btw??

honestly, my dad bought it about 5 or 6 years ago, and I think he paid between 3 and 4g for it. It's one of a kind, hand painted. There's not another set in the world like it. They however did have a few other setups of the radial pro 5th anniversary, they just weren't the same kit.

OCDP are overpriced keller kits with BAD quality. I have played many an OCDP kit and they sound like crap. Pork Pie kits are what keller drums sound like, not OCDP. OCDP cant put a wrap on right, keep a shell round or do a bearing edge! Terrible drums with hype thanks to Travis Barker

wow i thought Travis Barker played DW or something... Honestly I liked them because of other drummers but I never played them or anything. I like what I have played with, the ludwig vista lite especially for live performance. I'm starting to like this peavey set for studio purposes though. It's pretty bad ass.

They have full furry kits but I cant find any pictures. They are "cool" drums for punk players but not practical for serious drummers.

If you want a real bad ass drumset look for Brady, DW, Gretsch..... These kits are almost worth the money the charge.

How do these drums sound? what is the wood? I can get a black set used right now for $900.

They are maple I believe. The shells are super thin. If you are getting a 5th anniversary set for 900 I say go for it. All of the 5th anniversary sets were a little different to the point where they are all one-of-a-kind and I think they made <20 of them.
Other than that, I like the way the radial bridge thing sounds. The hardware is all nice. The reason for the bridge supposedly is so that no air escapes the shell. There's no holes! I like it and I think it's a great set...
